Why eat “less-bad” processed foods?

Ideally, we’d all have private chefs who presented us with delicious, minimally pre-processed meals and we’d never eat ultra-processed foods at all. But the reality is that most of us have limited time and money and need to make compromises. The foods and strategies listed on this site will not be the cheapest varieties, but you can end up saving money because you are less likely to be triggered to overeat. Minimally Processed/Unprocessed

Processed

Egg whites in a carton with preservatives and “spices.” Canned fruits and vegetables with additives. Ground beef with “natural flavors” added. Frozen chicken breasts with “broth” added.

Ultra-Processed

Jimmy Dean Egg Breakfast sandwich. Hostess Cherry Fruit Pies. White Castle Classic Cheese Sliders. Banquet Fried Chicken.
